Lynn's Comments: With computers today, this just might work. The operative word is "might." Folks who don't have kids or whose kids are grown and gone have no idea (or have forgotten) how much time a baby takes!
Lynn's Comments: I adored my young children, but there were times I was so desperate for adult company that a trip to the grocery store, alone, was like a holiday!
Lynn's Comments: My kids never babysat for each other, but babysitters were a lifeline for us. We had some wonderful, trustworthy sitters to whom I owed my sanity—a few I’ve even stayed in touch with! A good babysitter really does become part of the family.
Lynn's Comments: This little vignette was the real thing. Farley has no idea why he was in trouble for something he's been doing over and over again. You gotta love this stuff!
Lynn's Comments: I have gone out to a public gathering with baby barf on my back. Thank goodness for the kindness of other moms who have keen eyes and wet wipes!
Lynn's Comments: Nowadays, folks "talk to themselves" all the time. It's no big deal to see someone prattling away to an invisible companion as they drive or walk or sit in a coffee shop.
Lynn's Comments: I've told you about my grandmother coming to stay with us and taking my bedroom while she was visiting. She had waist-length hair, and when she washed it, she'd stand on the porch like this and brush her hair in the wind. Later, when I also had very long hair, I did the same thing. It made me think of her—every time.
Lynn's Comments: I came from a staunch British family. It was considered bad form to call anyone at dinnertime—between 5:30 and 7:00. If the phone rang, my mother refused to answer, even if it was me calling!
