Lynn's Comments: I don't know how many times I heard from readers named "Elizabeth"—they were now being called "Lizardbreath" and it was all my fault!

Lynn's Comments: For some reason, I had a lot of trouble coming up with a name for the rabbit. Having April decide let me off the hook!

Lynn's Comments: Here you can see the entire back of the Patterson house. The architecture worked on the outside, but making sense of the inside drawings was a bit of a challenge. I hoped nobody would look too closely at where the doors went and how the rec room was structured!

Lynn's Comments: Nobody corrected the word “comftrable” here. Usually, readers pounced on anything that had a colloquial spelling or was written in the vernacular. This time, I suspected that folks simply didn’t notice!

Lynn's Comments: As a teenager, this was me. If my hair wasn’t right, my day wasn’t either. “Bad hair day” was a phrase coined in my time—and it was serious. One day, I even faked an illness and stayed home from school because of bad hair. I confess, I haven’t changed much. Oh, physically I’m 78…but hair-wise…I’m still 16.

Lynn's Comments: Candace was a complicated character, and if I’d had enough time and space, I’d have been able to explore her personality and her home life. I hoped readers would see her as one of the bright but troubled kids in Elizabeth’s crowd; someone who needed some extra understanding.

Lynn's Comments: This was a bit of a problem in our house. As a dental wife, I was expected to be able to fill in for an assistant if necessary. And since we had a mobile clinic, I was often with the staff when everyone went into the northern First Nations villages to provide dental care. With all the knowledge I picked up, I was able to ask certain questions and give some advice. My husband wasn’t too happy about this—in case I made a mistake. I never did try to be the physician in the family, but if I knew the answer to a problem and the dentist wasn’t available, it was hard not to put in my two cents worth!
